Dear Customers
The Nepal Customs Authority has imposed a regulation stating that the import of personal effects and gift items into the country should not exceed the value of US$200. Shipments above this value will no longer be cleared by the FedEx/TNT broker, and the consignee will have to appoint their own clearance broker.
FedEx Express and TNT at countries of origin are responsible to ensure that the shipper is fully aware of the regulation, and that the shipment is declared as personal effects and gift items, with the correct commercial value.
The value of the commodity will be assessed by customs in Nepal based on the current market value at country of origin. For example, the value of a used or a new mobile phone sent to Nepal will be assessed on the country of origin’s current market value of the product.
Penalties will be imposed on the shipper by Nepal Customs Authority for any mis-declared or undervalued shipments.
Please keep all your customers and staff updated accordingly.
